Sala Gabriel Garcia Márquez | Museo del Caribe | Colombia
Located in Barranquilla, city of Marquez’s literary debut, this new thematic interactive museum explores Caribbean culture using audiovisual contents and objects.
In 2009 a new gallery was added as a homage to the best known Colombian author. Thorough research and meetings with local intellectuals resulted in the recreation of the press room where Marquez took to writing. Besides the archaeological reconstruction, another narrative layer emerges. All of a sudden, curtains drop leaving the visitors in compete darkness. From the writing machine, the author's universe materializes in a 360 video projection that evokes some of his oeuvre's highlight.
